Escondido, CA April 6, 2006 Palomar Medical Center provides Anterior Hip Replacement to patients in the San Diego area. One happy Anterior Hip Patient made the evening news.
Anterior Hip Replacement is an improvement on conventional hip replacement surgery.
It is a technique that minimizes surgical pain and reduces the time from surgery to recovery. The Anterior Approach allows the hip to be replaced without detachment of muscle from the pelvis or femur during surgery. The surgeon can simply work through the natural interval between the muscles. The most important muscles for hip function, the gluteal muscles that attach to the pelvis and femur, are left undisturbed and therefore do not require a healing process.
Surgeons and medical staff at Palomar Medical Center are enthusiastic about the new procedure.
