OSI and Tempur-Pedic® Medical Form Alliance For Specialty Surgery Pads
March 09, 2006

OSI and Tempur-Pedic® Medical have formed a new medical alliance to introduce a product called Tempur-Med® Surgery Pads. These pressure management pads will help healthcare professionals manage pressure-related forces which can cause tissue damage during lengthy surgical procedures, according to Tempur-Pedic® research. Tempur-Med® Surgery Pads passively redistribute pressure away from the patient's weight-bearing contact points by reducing the areas of peak pressure on the body, the process protects skin and muscle tissue, speeds recovery and increases comfort for the patient.

"With this alliance, OSI becomes Tempur-Pedic Medical's operating room channel partner. The result gives them a uniquely differentiated product to bring to market", said Paul S. Coulis, President of Tempur-Pedic Medical, Inc.

"According to the literature, if tissue damage can occur in as little as 20 minutes, and patients are placed on stretchers and OR tables for extended periods of time, then it's essential that pressure management follows the patient.", according to R. Mark Lane, Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing at OSI.

The new Tempur-Med® Pads will be standard equipment on specific OSI tables and will be made available as replacement pads for OSI tables currently in use, as well as a wide variety for general surgery tables and stretchers.
