AARP Magazine Features First Hand Report On New Hip Replacement Techniques
June 13, 2005

June 13, 2005 – 52-year old Elizabeth Snead chronicles her experience with two hip replacements through the newly established Anterior Approach in the July/August issue of AARP Magazine.

Jiffy Hips is the latest piece from marathon runner/writer Elizabeth Snead who details her search for the best hip replacement techniques before deciding to undergo the replacement of both her hips in a single procedure using the Anterior Approach.

Snead interviewed several orthopedic surgeons before deciding on Dr. Joel Matta from Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, “Matta told me my hospital stay would be only two to four days and my recovery just two to six weeks. In addition, the risk of dislocation would be lower and the scars much smaller. ‘Sign me up’, I said”

The article, as well as the hip replacement options, is well documented and definitely recommended reading for anyone contemplating hip replacement surgery.

AARP is available through subscriptions and on newsstands throughout the country.
